Our placemats are made from natural palm leaves that have been harvested, dried, dyed and hand woven into this simple and beautiful functional shape by communities of women groups working from their homes. This fully women-driven craft communities sees harvested palm leaves being dried, dyed and hand woven into these striking creations with great passion & a desire to be economically empowered. Hailing from communities in the post-conflict north of Sri Lanka, the women behind these pieces have up-skilled to maintain this essential sustainable livelihood whilst maintaining the beautiful craft of Palmyra weaving passed down to them for generations.
